Honestly I can't tell you why we are running such a high flow. I work off of Standard Operating Procedures and the current version says to run at such a high flow rate. It was also validated at that flow rate so that can not be changed.
Two things puzzle me;

why ask us to improve your procedure if you are unable to change anything that you are doing ? - to improve performance you have to change something in the procedure,

if the method was validated at 10 ml/min on a 6890 changing to a new model or instrument requires a re-validation anyway, so why not include a sensible flow rate in the new method ?

dear peter

if you change flow rate no need to re validate method

if change column type or instrument then you need to verification not validation
( some parameter of validation not all )
