Sensitivity Testing

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

We have a new GC-TOF and wish to test its sensitivity levels.

We need to prove to our clients that the machine can live up to their expectations and do as they require, and prove that it lives up to its manufacturers specifcations.

Could you give me what you think are the best samples to test sensitivity on a instrument like this!

Can be any column sample or temperature profile.

Much Thanks

Mike

Lots of ways to try.

To convince yourself, might want to repeat the specifications for sensitivity supplied by the manufacturer. Almost all instrument manufacturers specify a test and demonstrate it during installation.

However, this might not satisfy your customers. If you had an instrument before the new one, might want to impress them by showing increased detection limits on new one versus old, better precision in quantitative measurements, or good mass accuracy for determining molecular formulae.

Most of my customers are impressed most by fast turn-around time and a solution to their problem.
