Hi Guys,

I am wondering how to control the depth of the needle in the GC vial so that smaller volumes (less than 0.5 ml) can injected using standard 2 ml GC vial. For the time being we dont have the micro insert so any suggestion about lowering the needle depth would be appreciated.

What is your make and model of your GC?
In many softwares you can programe the depth of the needle. We need your software to help you. I work with chemstation and galaxie.

Sorry for my english
thank you for the reply. Its Agilent's 7890 A GC controlled by chemstation.
Go to your GC parameters and the ALS tab. Click the ">>" button to get the extra ALS parameters. The option you want is "Sample Depth". 0 mm is the default. It can be set from -2mm (below) to 30mm (above). Note that -2mm is nearly touching the bottom of the vial, so the default sample depth is very low in the vial.

thank you very much. It's very helpful.
