We are having an intermittent problem with our Agilent 7683B autosampler.

Now and again when I start a sequence the Fault light comes on and flashes twice in a row repeatedly.

Can anyone tell me what this fault means?
From the HP 7673 autosampler manual.

Syringe carriage motor problem.
Syringe carriage cannot find its home position.
Syringe carriage sensor is inoperable.
Improper injection mode.

Suggested actions (paraphrased):

Check for proper syringe type and proper syringe installation.
Check on-column injection mode and check for damage to the inlet liner and column.
Press the STOP button to clear the fault and restart the sequence.
