I re use the MXT connectors, I just sonicate them in solvent for a while.

You are wise as well.
I was glad to see that gserrano_84 confirmed my experience with the press-tights with a GC-MS detector. The polyimide is not impermeable to air even if no gaps in the seal are achieved.
This small contamination of air is not a deal breaker but your column will last longer without the trace contamination of air. For this and other reasons when connecting my Headspace Columns to the transfer line I always used the Restek deactivated unions with a steel body and with graphite ferrules.
