Which detection modes are appropriate for use with FFF?
Most types of online detection that are used for macromolecules and nanoparticles are appropriate for FFF: UV or refractive index to determine concentration and retention volume; multi-angle light scattering (MALS) to determine molar mass and rms radius; dynamic light scattering (DLS) to determine hydrodynamic radius; fluorescence to identify composition or concentration; and even mass spectrometry such as ICP-MS to determine elemental composition or size single particles consisting of single elements.
