Discovery Analytical Sciences at Amgen in Cambridge is seeking a separations specialist capable of providing analytical support to Amgen’s small molecule drug discovery effort.
The responsibility of this position is to develop and use chromatographic and/or spectroscopic methods for the analysis and purification of small molecules to support medicinal chemistry and process chemistry groups at the Cambridge facility.
Major duties will include analysis and purification of chiral and achiral molecules with supercritical fluid chromatography. Separations utilizing HPLC, LC/MS and GC are also regularly performed in support of small molecule chemistry programs.

Experience:
A Bachelors or Masters degree in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field and four or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry are required. Experience with chromatographic analysis and/or purification of small molecules in a pharmaceutical R&D environment is required. Experience with LC/MS, mass directed purification, analytical/preparative SFC is preferred. Knowledge of other analytical techniques (NMR, MS) would be desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
