Off-topic conversations and chit-chat.

There are a large number of posts consisting of scarcely more than "my method does not work, what is wrong ?. In other words people are expecting their problems to be solved without their having provided any information about what they are analysing under what conditions and with what instrument set up.

The Do's and Don'ts Sticky is quite clear that this is not the way to get the best out of the forum. Is there any way to attach the Sticky to the registration e-mail ? so that there is a good chance that new people at least will have read it before they start posting requests for help.

Thanks Peter

That's a good idea. I'll delve into the code a bit this coming weekend and see if I can append an appropriate link in the welcome e-mail.

Human nature being what it is, though, I think there will always be a certain amount of that sort of post.
