HPLC VS GC

Basic questions from students; resources for projects and reports.

How would aromatic compounds best separated?
Toluene, Benzene, nitrobenzene and acetophenone best separated GC or HPLC?
Toluene, benzene and nitrobenzene are all target analytes for volatile organics analysis. Nitrobenzene and acetophenone are both targets for semi-volatile organics analysis. Both of those are GC (with MS detection).
All would be easily separable in HPLC with detection by UV.
So the answer is; the best one would be the one you have available. Also how certain do you need to be of identity and how low of concentration do you need to detect?
