Abscisic acid quantitation

Basic questions from students; resources for projects and reports.

Can't seem to find a GC method to detect and quantitate abscisic acid that doesn't use derivatization.

Am I doomed to HPLC unless I want to derivatize, or does anyone have any suggestions?
Anything you analyze by GC must be volatile and/or thermally stable. Abscisic acid by itself is neither, hence the need for derivatization for GC.

If you do have access to LC-MS, it behaves quite well on reverse phase columns and ionises nicely by electrospray, so it's not too terrible being forced into liquid-world! Good luck!
