Perkin Elmer "Interface Validation Module" or IVM

Our lab is currently using Perkin Elmer Turbochrom TC/CS 6.1.2 and will soon switch to a more modern CDS. In the meantime we are stuck with this system. We currently have a problem in that the Interface Validation Module or IVM device we use to check the analog to digital boxes is no longer calibrated by Perkin Elmer or so we are told. Has anybody else encountered this situation and if so come up with a solution?

In general, how are CDS analog to digital boxes being tested?
I thought only in post-soviet countries exists the cargo-cult of "verification" of measuring instruments obtaining noise level in millivolts and baseline drift in mV/hr.

ADC characteristics no doubt influence your result uncertainity, but honestly - is not they are several orders of magnitude less than uncertainity caused by standard mixture preparation.

Your system is intended to measure AMOUNT of substance - and it should be CALIBRATED with proper standard and tested for detector LINEARITY and whole method should be VAILDATED.

In short - why you need the millivolts of ADC noise while you measuring ng per ml comparing unknown sample response with standard response in the same ng per ml?
