Morning everyone, I was hoping there is someone out there very familiar with this software. I grew up on Empower so I am still getting used to this new OpenLab software.

There are a few things I'd like to learn, but first of all;
if I submit a shutdown method, how do I set it up so the next day I don't have to abort it and for the same thing, how do you prevent a shutdown method from creating a result set?? There are SO many data sets from the shutdowns, makes it harder to locate my real data and it is useless.

Next, is there an easier way to apply processing methods to new data sets? If i run different sequences and they all use the same processing method and open them in processing at the same time, I have numerous processing methods at the bottom left even though they may all be the same name. I'm not a fan of this linking and unlinking and unsure of how to properly use it. Sometimes I'll make changes to processing method and they don't seem to stick if I close the data and reopen it.

Thanks
Oh and probably one of the biggest issues I have is entering sample weight. If making a sequence, you can enter the "amount" but that is not used in any calculation (as an agilent rep told me), you have to enter your sample weight in the dilution or multiple column, but they don't exist in the sequence table.
They DO exist in the single sample injection part.
Seems crazy to me there is no proper place to put sample weight without having to reprocess it in after...so I am thinking I'm using it wrong even though that's how Agilent told me to do it....
Any suggestions?

Thanks
I was pretty good at Revision A, and struggled some when we went to Openlab and Chemstation C.

With A, we always did Sequence Summary Reports and entered our sample weights into the Sequence Table under "Amount". And our dilution volume in "Dilution", so 1,371 grams diluted to 100 ml would have 1.371 and 100 in those columns, and we got Sequence Summary Reports with the correct result in percent. Our calibration standard was entered in grams per ml as injected.

So I think that you do want to enter the weight into "Amount".

Anyway, one must check initially that automated calculations match old-fashioned manual results!
Starting at OpenLab CDS version 2.3 and 2.4 the Shutdown method is a separate action that does not create a new result set.
The Sample Amount is indeed not used in calculations other than the Mass%tage which you can set in the General Section of the Calibration at Compounds in the method.
If you want to use Concentration/Sample_Amount you can add that directly to the Compound_Amount or Compound_Concentration column or us a Custom Calculation to do that
e.g.
Round(Compound_Concentration/Sample_Amount,2)
You can change the 2 on the round statement of course to reflect anything you like.
