Hi,

I need some help configuring my HPLC setup and was hoping someone might have the solution.

I have a number of CAD's (Corona CAD and Corona Veo) connected to individual agilent HPLC stacks. Each HPLC is networked directly to a Lace box and we control them over the network using Empower 3 FR1. The CADs are connected to the HPLC and Lace using an esatin. We are not yet using the empower DII drivers.

Each HPLC works fine and a CAD signal is acquired as long as I have an agilent detector also acquiring data (even if no eluent is going through the agilent detector).

I have tried removing the agilent detector from the stack, leaving a pump, degasser, autosampler, column heater, and CAD connected, however when I do this I cant run sample sets on empower. When I try to run a sample set it will acquire the first injection and then not start the second injection.

I assume the system is waiting on some sort of signal going to the autosampler/lace box to say that the system should start the next injection, but I have no idea how to do this.

Does anyone have any experience with this or any ideas how to fix it? I have no need for the UV detectors on these systems so it would be nice to not have to have these switched on and acquiring data when im using the HPLC.

Interestingly, I have tried using the DII drivers on our test server and have the same issue, so I am assuming this is a wiring issue between the CAD and the autosampler.

Thanks!
Contact your local Thermo/Fisher/DIONEX rep, they can help you out.
It's a little too complicated to get into here...
DII works, but it can be a little glitchy until setup is just right.

My favorite glitch was how one system's run would finish up and the other system on the same node would also quit - before it should!
Thanks,
DR

Try to acquire any other data from Agilent LC (temp of the col thermostate etc)
Nope: replace the esatin with an UIB-II from Agilent That is a single channel A/D converter which goes on the LC stack.
Now then you do not need a separate driver as the UIB-II is shown as a normal detector in the LC stack.

UIB-II partnumber G1390B for ICF version 3 on Empower 3 FR4
