Looking for some info,

I have recently upgraded to chromeleon 6.8 (I know little backward in the times) and have encountered numerous bugs. While I am successfully working them out I was curious to know if anyone out there ran into any issues with this version. I found two old posts here on the forum that related. I am interested in lists of problems and the date you upgraded. Any help with this would be appreciated, could help me head off problems at the pass.

Dear JoeFish,

the best option i think is for you is to report your bugs to your dionex rep in your area first, if they do not know the answer then they can pass the question to the Dionex software Specialists.

you can also send me some of the problems. i administer a C/S installation so i can probably help you on several issues.

also make sure to upgrade all your firmawares on your IPCs for your instruments when you upgraded. especially for 3th party instruments it can help solve many issues.

Hello,

Good to hear that you are now on 6.80.
- From which version did you upgrade to 6.80?
- Do you have the latest Service Pack (Service Release 5)?
- Did you upgrade all your PCs to the same CM version / SP?
- Did you check the Release Notes? It describes potential compatibility issues.

I also fully agree with the suggestions of unmgvar:
- Upgrading to the latest firmware is a very good idea,
- Please report any remaining issues to your local Dionex representative - we will help you.

Best regards,
Jozsef Medve, Dionex
My apologies for not jumping back on immediately, end of the year and have to close out projects.

Your suggestions were very good, but all network precautions were taken. Dionex has been very helpful when contacted throughout the project.

My query lays in anomalies that I have had outside the scope of technical notes. I have also run into counterparts that have had issues that were known to dionex and not relayed to me. I believe I have seen all that could go bad and my installation is complete. If anyone runs into any surprises I am still interested to hear from them.

Again, thank you all for your support.
We are going through our own issues (and I hope this thread might still be active). Upgrading from 6.5sp4b to 6.8, and things have gotten convoluted. My IT guy ordered 48 new PC's with windows 7 when I told him that Dionex had not certified their software to work under 7. We also have major problems with our Sequel Server refusing to allow anyone running under 6.8 to make any changes to sequences (Alteration of table "Sequences" failed. User does not have permission to perform this operation on table 'Samples'.). I'm not getting a lot of help from Dionex, because it's not Chromeleon causing the problem.

We had a previous administrator (no longer with us) who did some magic on the file access rights under Sequel and now we are stuck. I am recommending a fresh install of Sequel and new databases, but my IT guy keeps trying to fix what is there.

Meanwhile, I also need some help starting from scratch with developing some custom rdf sheets to calculate our System Suitability tests.

Joe, sorry to hear your SQL Server administrator left without adequately documenting their custom server setup -- that certainly makes things difficult. A senior Dionex support manager will be contacting you very soon to discuss your situation and your options for getting through the short-term issues. Of course, for the long term, you'll need ongoing on-site support from your own IT department, and better documentation of the chosen setup.

Regarding Windows 7, we recently (last week) announced that Chromeleon 6.8 SR10 has been validated for use on Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate editions (32-bit and 64-bit):

Chromeleon 7 developmental builds are currently being tested with Windows 7; we expect to announce full compatibility within the next few months.
Thanks Jschibler for your help.
Do you know if anyone else had seen the problems with Windows 7 and the error messages involving Microsoft NetFramework?
That was one of the problem we were seeing with installation of SR9 (along with our Sequel issues).

We haven't been getting such reports about Windows 7, probably due mainly to the fact that we advised our customers to hold off on using it for Chromeleon until we finished validation. We found a few small issues ourselves (mainly related to changes in the way the setup program had to operate in the new environment), but nothing relating to the .NET framework.

You may have some out-of-date .NET components. Probably a good idea to run Windows Update and pick up current .NET versions. From the Windows Update web site, you can also choose Administrator Options and download .NET installables for various operating systems.

we did not,
have you set the program to work as XP and not 7?
in properties

do you know what you did last when the error appeared?

I did not want Windows 7, but I am stuck with it now.
Yes, I tried telling windows to run it under NT, still balked.
The .Netframework error was actually calling for an older version than was present on the PC. We tired installing both versions and still got the error.

For the LaChrom Elite as far as i remember the driver have to be from Hitachi directly, did you install the latest driver? Their should be a tabset for Chromeleon coming with them.
