Hi

just wondaring if someone could help me on knowing more information about the Chromcard software and what is the system requirement for it, as the PC which it was installed on had win 95 and I am thinking of upgrading it to win 2k ?
Good things come to those who wait

All depends on what Chromcard version you have ? Original Chromcard was launched in 1992 and was DOS based. As your old PC had Windows 95 it is likely you have Chromcard for Windows which was available up until its replacement in about 1999 with Chromcard 32. Chromcard for Windows will only run with 95 not W2K/XP. What A/D card do you have ? Original boards were twin channel full length ISA with A/D on board and cannot be upgraded to Chromcard 32. The Chromatography card came in an expandable ISA board with A/D attached via flying leads (to a maximum of 4 channels) This can be upgraded to Chromcard 32 which is still current software and runs great in XP etc. Upgrade paths exist for whatever version you have and you local Thermo Electron agent should be able to provide prices for them. Software is freely downloadable from www.ceinstruments.it once you have a password. This enables you to get the most recent version of software to match your sentinel key (dongle)

Chromcard 32 controls Thermo Trace and Focus GCs direct with RS232 and with Agilent 6890s (extra softwre required) any chromatography system can be attached via the old Chromatography card or with USB A/D

The Chromcard that was running on win95 is version 2.3.1

I installed it today and so far the PC and the GC are running fine

Thanks for the help :)

Sounds like you have Chromcard 32 so should run fine under XP. Most recent version is 2.3.3 available fron October 2005. Most enhancements are for new hardware e.g. TriPlus. Will now however allow import of Chemstation files, ASCii data and a few other enhancements to specialist packages like Natrual Gas.

Well you are right about having the chromcard 32.

The problem now I am having is that the programme is shutting off while running an analysis, there is a message saying "too much data points" or something, then I either have to re open the software or reboot the PC ?

it is running under windows 2000
