Measuring delay time

Hello,

We are collecting peaks from IC. We have a flow splitter connected to the outlet of column, PAD detector and the fraction collector. We tried to measure the delay time before by placing an empty tubing between the flow splitter and fraction collector, then turning on the pump and measuring the time for liquid to drip out of the fraction collector. But our pump needs around 30s to achieve a stable pressure and the targeted flow rate, which may lead to errors in the measured delay time. Are there any ways to get the delay time in this case?

place a valve after the flowsplitter. start the pump in the position without the empty capilary when the pressure is stable, swich to the empty capillary and the measure the time.
You also may calculate the volume of the capillary, then calculate the time with volume and flowrate. The result should be quite good.
