Ion Chromatography Interference

We experience occasional glycolate interference with the analysis for acetate by IC. We're using a Metrohm Compact 761 IC. The interference appears as a shoulder on the left side of the acetate peak. The column we use is heated: Metrosep A Supp 7 - 250/4.0. We've experimented with various dilutions of our standard eluent to no avail. Switching to an organic acid column is not an option. Question: We are able to closely replicate the interference by trial and error using standard solutions, holding printouts of the sample chromatogram and standard chromatogram up to the light and aligning the baselines. Is this a legitimate way of estimating the acetate concentration when the glycolate interference is present? Thanks!
