ICS 5000+ CD high pressure

Troubleshooting high pressure (~700 psi) from the conductivity cell. It is an analytical CD PN 061830. The pressure is normally ~100. We have already eliminated all tubing, back pressure coil etc. Is there a cleaning procedure for the CD? I am not finding any recommendations in the manual. Thank you for any recommendations.

On the Wellness panel under External Conductivity Cell
Calibration, click Instructions for a summary of the procedure
(described in detail in this section).
4. Disconnect the pump output line from the injection valve.
5. Disconnect the line from the suppressor ELUENT OUT port to the cell
inlet and connect the pump output line directly to the cell inlet.
6. Verify that there is a minimum of 7 MPa (1000 psi) of backpressure.
7. Set the cell heater to 35 °C. Allow the cell to reach this temperature
and then wait an additional 5 minutes to let it stabilize.
8. Begin pumping 1.0 mM KCl through the cell at 1.0 mL/min.
9. Wait until the total conductivity reading stabilizes (in about
15 minutes). Open the Wellness panel again and click Calibrate.
After calibration, the conductivity reading should be 147.00 ± 2 μS. If
this is not the case, contact Dionex for help.
10. To record the new calibration value in the Audit Trail, click the Log
button for the cell that was calibrated.
11. Flush the KCl solution from the system by pumping ASTM Type I
(18 megohm-cm) filtered and deionized water through the cell. When
the conductivity drops to less than 1 μS/cm, stop the pump.
12. Reconnect the pump to the injection valve and reconnect the line
from the suppressor to the cell inlet

Hi lagarde12,

Welcome to the forum. You can try the following:

1. Prepare 10 mL of 3 M Nitric Acid.
2. Disconnect the liquid line from the suppressor to the cell inlet. Direct the liquid line from the cell outlet to a waste container.
3. Using a 10 mL syringe, pass 5 mL of the 3 M Nitric Acid solution through the cell.
4. After two minutes, pass the remaining 5 mL of solution through the cell. Wait two minutes.
5. Fill the syringe with 10 mL of deionized water. Inject the water through the cell.
6. Reconnect the liquid lines and pass eluent through the cell.
