Hello,
Any reason why 2-Isopropylmalic acid is widely used as an internal standard in many GC-MS experiments? Thanks.

Harsha
Two mayor requirements of an IS for any method are,
1) crystallinity
2) stability

Crystallinity enables high purity to be obtained and enables high accuracy to be achieved in preparation of quantitative standards.
Stability means that standards will not degrade quickly.
