Hello folks,
Little advice from experienced users. Head to head, which is the overall better system: a Sciex API 3000 triple quad (mass range 5-5000) or the Waters Micromass Quattro Micro (mass range 2-2000)?
Thanks.

I think the API-3000 scans up to 3000, not 5000. In any case, I wouldn't focus on the upper mass limit too much. Even if you are doing proteomics, doubly charged peptides are preferred for MS/MS, so a 2000 m/z upper limit would let you go up to 4000 mw peptides. But, triple-quads do not seem to be the preferred instrument in proteomics anyway.
As for the two instruments, I have not used Micromass instruments so can't give a fair comparison. See if you can have some of your compounds of interest analyzed on the two instruments
