Hello,

Looking for advice on the estimation of uncertainty in GC results.

I work for a small (non certified) lab at a spirits manufacturer and analyse congeners by GC-FID. Although our results are mostly used internally and we are not looking to get any accreditation, I would like to be able to estimate the uncertainty on our results. At the moment, we regularly take part in proficiency testing, which shows us how we perform compared to other labs. We don’t have in place anything in-house that estimates the error that is attached to our results. I found plenty of information about it but most seems to be directed towards ISO17025 accreditation.

I am just trying to find out what would be considered good practice for a small lab like ours. The whole uncertainty measurement seems like a minefield so I am trying to avoid any unnecessary stats if I can!

Thanks
