hi everyone,

i am developing one aroclor pcb (usepa8082). but i am abit confusing on integration part for data analysis how it work. Due to the method mention calibration will set up based on mixture of aroclor 1016 and 1260 (which will cover from mono to deca range of PCB). so can someone advise how to integrate them and report?

thanks
seet
For method 8082 calibration can be done by using a 1016/1260 standard (it contains the entire range of congeners that are used). select 5 (or more) peaks from each Aroclor and create a calibration curve for each. The average of these peaks are used to quantitate. If you have a specific Aroclor to analyze for, often 1254, the same procedure is used but with 5 1254 standards. The peaks to use for each Aroclor should be the among the largest but use care to select ones that are less likely to have interferences and are representative (e.g. for 1242 include the later cluster that is minimal in 1016)
For some uses (soils especially) it helps if you know where the DDT components elute so they can be avoided.
