I am looking at moving from 5890 ECDs to 6890 or 7890GCs with uECDs. I have heard some rumors that there are problems with the 6890 uECDs and that possibly it was just on the older 6890 uECDs and that the issues were resolved at some point in the lifetime of the 6890 series GC.

Does anyone know if this is true? If so, what are the "issues" with the uECDs in the 6890s?
We have had no issues switching over. The uECDs are very linear compared to the older style, we can stay calibrated for weeks not days. I think the EPC on the newer GC helps as well. Don't be shocked when the signal shows 200 Hz instead of 20, they changed the scale as well.

We didn't see a change on detection levels, but ECDs already are extremely sensitive to halogens.

Good luck!
Sorry. No issue.
