I purchased a tested autosampler (G1513A injector + tray), and had to do a bit of finagling in order to get the tray to seat correctly. Once that was on, I tried to mount the injector. No dice: it is as if the septum nut is too close to the guide rod.
I put everything together, slide the tower down the guide post, and try to align the feet. What keeps the feet from falling into place is how the septum nut won't fit into the bottom of the tower. If I take the septum nut off, everything fits into place. If I take the septum nut and try to fit it into the hole in the bottom of the tower, it fits fine.
I have tried loosening some screws, tightening some screws, loosening and tightening the guide rod, all sorts of different things. Thinking it was the alignment of the injector, I have removed and replaced it 3-4 times now, and even tried shims under the "legs" of the perforated metal piece on the injector in order to change its position slightly. No dice.
Having spent 4-5 hours on this, I'm out of ideas. What am I missing? It is as if the septum nut is a little too far to the left of the instrument, not fitting into the hole for it in the bottom of the tower, but no adjustments seem to fix this.
