Baseline issue

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello,

I am very green to GCMS so hopefully this doesn't come off as a dumb question! I am having issues with the baseline upon injection. The baseline is very high and once the temperature program kicks in the baseline drops a bit until it gets to higher temperatures where the baseline is where it should normally be. Any thoughts or suggestions?
What you describe is likely the solvent coming through. You should look for the setting "solvent delay" on your system, and set it so the system starts measuring after the solvent has passed through.
