GC-ECD Low response

Hi guys, I am just wondering if you all have any idea to why the GC-ECD detector Agilent brand has a much lower response (five times less) response after I did the thermal ECD cleaning ?

Some of the peaks totally disappeared. This is not only on one method but two different methods so I can eliminate out column problem . We changed the liner and septum and trimmed the column too. But the response was still so Low.

We checked the detector part and noticed the detector screw a bit loose so tightened using a wrench . Is that why it have affected the response?

Thank you for the suggestions and I really appreciate it!

Hi,
What is the signal of the ECD when the GC is in the idle state?

Also what model are you using?

This could give you an indication of contamination or an issue with the ECD cell.

Thank you for the responses.
I think the way I installed the column into the ecd detector caused the low response. I did not know that there must be a certain length of the column measured before installing into the detector. After following the guidelines as mentioned below in the link, I noticed a lower output for the detector and also a more stable baseline and defined peaks.

Thank you for the help.
