Split Peaks

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello all,

I am having problems with a 5975 GC/MS.

I work with the 8260 EPA method SPME and I'm finding split peaks on later compounds with higher concentration runs considerably worse.

I've done just about every piece of maintenance I can do including cleaning the source, cutting the column, changing the liner and septum as well as dropping the EMv later in the run with no luck.

Any advise where to go next? I am yet to cut the column on the MS side which was going to be my next adventure.

Thanks

George
When you say it's worse with higher concentrations does that mean that the split is wider, or that the size of the smaller peak gets bigger in relation to the main peak ?. Please post a chromatogram - there's a sticky on how somewhere.
