I need a method for MTBE in tap water. I don't want to spend a lot of time on it - a colleague lives near a known MTBE groundwater plume and has given me a sample of her water. I just want to take a quick look, I don't have time to work up a method.
I would like to use SPME for sampling, this seems the easiest, I have 5% phenyl, wax and cyanopropylphenyl columns available.
Any suggestions?
Mike

Thick phase cyanopropyl, AKA 624, would probably be best, followed by wax. Purge and trap is usually used, but SPME will probably work. Use a polar fiber for best results.
