It's nothing but regenerating or more precisicely to tell,conditioning your column, inorder to improve it's performance.

Its done by leaving the column at its isothermal temperature limit. This should be done for 30mins to 1hour initially and obviously with carrier gas flow.
Depending on your samples you may need more time.

Some non-volatiles should leave the column. Others will eventually build up requiring you to replace the column.
