I wanted to ask if anyone had any sortoff manual for the 5970. I've been trying to set it up, and I've been having considerable trouble with no resources handy. (Things like dip switches on smart card, how to install column, cleaning and maintenance, etc.) In addition, I was trying to setup the software, and after a few issues with drivers that I believe are resolved, an error message pops up (attached in image).

You may need to figure out the HPIB addresses of the MSD and GC.

As I understand it the dip switches on the comm cards of the instrument set the address. They are additive.

Say the GC card dip 1, 5, and 7 are up. That would give it a HPIB address of 13.

I see message "Loading TRACES.DLL". Typically when macros executed successfully, these messages disappear.
Looks like the installation is broken or you have macro that loads something unusual.
