I am using an Agilent 7890 GC with 7697A headspace unit. Currently we are using GC carrier control, but we have a G4562A carrier gas PCM module just sitting in a drawer. What advantages would carrier control by HS or GC+HS provide?

It looks like Agilent recommends carrier control by GC only when using the 7890, so I guess we will stay with our current configuration.

You do not mention if you are using a capillary inlet. If you are, then you should use the GC to control the gas flow, then the GC knows what flow to set up for the split ratio that you require. If the flow source is external to the GC, you will not know the split ratio.
