G'day from DownUnder,

Easier to type a simple question that test :)

A colleague found a stash of unused SPE cartridges, mainly C18, that he gave to me. Many of these are very old stock, some 10 years old since purchased.

They have never been wetted up or used and have been stored in plastic bag so free of dust.

would they still be viable?

thanks
Greg
Easier for me if you test than if I answer !

Seriously - you need to test them no matter what I say.

I have a similar situation. I just found some in a cabinet that have been sitting there for 8-10 years as well. For my application (extraction of FAME's from derivatization broth), they work just fine. Really, if they've been kept at RT in a controlled-climate room, what could go wrong?

I too would check them against a known entity just to be sure.
Earlier this summer we were running low on C18 Speedisks with an uncertain delivery date for new ones. I was able to find some leftovers at another lab that were 12 years old. They worked just the same as the new ones.
