Just a general question about phenol:

I have just prepared a 90% solution of phenol in milliQ-water (9 g phenol + 1 g of water). No problem at all. But the solubility of phenol is about 8 gram / 100 ml water according to the books?
You have wet phenol.

" Homogeneous mixtures of phenol and water at phenol to water mass ratios of ~2.6 and higher are also possible."

Interesting! Thanks!

So it is not really a solution, but it certainly looks like one
Think of it as a solution of water in phenol
