Hello guys,

I need your opininion about the procedure of decommissioning an HPLC system: What tests have to be performed prior to decommission the instrument? System suitability results of the previous analysis before decommissioning are enough or we need to perform additionaly Performance Qualification (PQ)?

I can't find any guideline that mentions what is the procedure.

Thanks in advance.

I'd be surprised that there would be such a "procedure". But with regulatory involvement what it is these days.....

If it has been used to analyze highly toxic substances there may be a requirement to test for residue prior to shipping offsite / scrapping.

I don't know about any regulations regarding de-comissioning of instruments. I'm guessing this is based on your own quality system, if there is any statement regarding testing when de-comissioning or not. Otherwise, my understanding of it is that a PQ is regarded to be valid for a year from the date is was done (however also this should also be set by your quality system).
