When developing an RP method for a zwitterion (assuming it is adequately retained, ni ion pair necessary), is there any benefit to having the pH at its isoelectric point? Or is it generally better to be above or below the pKa of the compound?

I would hesitate to generalize. If it were my problem, I'd try it three ways: below, at, and above the IP.
