I have the sad news to convey that Dr. Lloyd Snyder passed away earlier this
week.

Lloyd was one of the true pioneers in HPLC; involved with the development of
many concepts and techniques that we take for granted today; among others:
- the Solvent Selectivity Triangle (1974)
- the Linear Solvent Strength model (1980)
- DryLab Chromatography Modeling software (1986)
- the Hydrophobic Subtraction model of reversed-phase column selectivity
(2000)

Along with the late Jack Kirkland, Lloyd introduced a whole generation of
chromatographers to HPLC with their "Introduction to Modern LC"
course taught for the Americal Chemical Society from 1971 - 1993, and the
book of the same title (1st edition 1974; 2nd edition 1979; 3rd edition
2009).

I have had the privilege of working with him over the past 30 years; he will
be sorely missed.
