Hi everyone,

it is often recommended to sonicate the slurry suspension before packing chromatography columns by immersing the containing flask or bottles in an ultrasonic bad. However, it is also well known that ultrasonic cavitation causes high velocity jet streams and high-temperature hot-spots. I have often read that it is possible to damage small delicate parts in ultrasonic cleaners.

How safe is it to sonicate the particle slurry? Has anyone observed any deterioration or particle damage caused by it?
