Compared to C4, is recovery of trance amounts of well-retained protein from HILIC and polcat columns better?

Presumably this isn't the firm answer you need, but it depends on the protein/peptide and the solvent/buffer system. In C4 (TFA/solvent?) and HILIC (high solvent?) a protein will probably be denatured, but in WCX it probably won't be, so you're dealing with different chromatographic species.

Peptides might be similar in all techniques, but there's no simple answer to your question.
