What is the average lifetime of a guard Column? We are using a Shodex OHpak SB-G. We have been using it for two months, I would say 3-4 times a week. We have cleaned it with ammonium chloride and azide but it seems that when we start using it the back pressure shoots up to 800psi. We have a Waters HPLC system.

Maybe you could turn the flow around for a while and see if the pressure is beeing reduced.

The life time very much depends on what you are injecting on to your column. How clean are you samples? How many samples have you analysed using this guard?
