Agilent 1100 UV wavey baseline issue

Hi ChromForum team,

Our prep HPLC (Agilent 1100, 1200) has a problem with a regular ripple in the baseline that appears to be linked to pump pressure.

Any ideas where to begin with this?
How does pressure link to absorbance? Is this due to an air bubble or leak in the system somewhere?

Looks like you are probably using an Agilent G1361A pump. Making sure the mobile phase is fully degassed is critical to getting those pumps to run well (and they do not run well like their analytical pumps do).

Please share with us some basic info about how you are trying to use this HPLC pump. (1) What is your mobile phase composition? (2) What is your flow rate? (3) What are the exact dimensions of the HPLC column you have connected to it and what packing material is packed inside (name, type and dimensions)? It also appears that you have not had training in the use of the DAD yet so please turn OFF the Reference Wavelength software feature in the detector software (see article for more info). *Always have that software feature turned OFF.
