Hi everyone,

I’m currently experiencing difficulties obtaining Diazald (Product No. D28000-25G, CAS 80-11-5, purity 99%, MW 214.24). I’m looking for the standard solid form of Diazald, which is typically a light-yellow solid.I placed an order with Sigma-Aldrich over two months ago, and although the website indicated a 1–2 day delivery time, the shipment still hasn’t been dispatched. Customer service mentioned that temperature-controlled logistics are causing significant delays.

I’ve also checked other suppliers, but most are based in the United States and cannot ship to the Netherlands quickly due to restrictions and long international transport times.

I urgently need Diazald for a methylation step prior to GC–MS analysis, and the delay is seriously affecting my project timeline. If anyone could lend this substance, I would greatly appreciate it. Or if anyone happens to have access to a pot of Diazald or knows a way to obtain it more quickly within Europe, I would sincerely appreciate any help or advice
Sorry to hear of your troubles with Sigma. For my color commentary, we're in the US, and we've received the same run around from Sigma regarding availability and shipping. It's to the point now where items arrive so late we don't even recall the intended use of the chemical once it arrives. The record for us is nine months for a type of specific silica gel that was listed as in stock. We also found out after complaining about availability of another item that their 'real-time internet inventory' is a farce and doesn't really mean anything. An item was listed as in stock, ready to ship, and after a week, we followed up, and we were informed the item was backordered. This site still listed it as in stock and ready to ship. We now avoid ordering from Sigma if we can.

Could you possibly substitute trimethylsilyl diazomethane? We've used it as a stable substitute for diazomethane. I doubt that anyone would ship it to you internationally since industry workers have died handling it, but if it's available in the Netherlands it might help you stay on track.
