Hi everybody,

I am making a GC-MS method based off of NIOSH 1500 for the analysis of VOC's captured on charcoal sorbents, extracting with CS2.
I can't find hardly any standard solutions to use for external calibration that are in a CS2 solvent. Methanol is a common solvent, instead.

I know that many people follow this method, and would like to know what they/you do regarding the calibration of the instrument.

Are there negligible/negotiable issues calibrating with a standard solution in methanol, then analyzing an extracted solution of CS2?
Are the calibration standards prepared from pure standards in CS2?
Is a methanol diluent used for the CS2-solvated extracts?
Is methanol an efficient enough extraction solvent, and CS2 isn't used at all?

Thanks for your help
