Hello everyone,
I am putting together a system to measure total dissolved inorganic carbon using a hand-me-down Alltech 500 conductivity detector (CD).

My problems are as follow:
1- I do not have the manual for the Alltech 550, nor can I find it online or by contacting Alltech/Grace. Does anyone have a pdf of it? Or can point me to the right direction?
2- I'd like to interface the Alltech CD with a simple chromatography freeware for data acquisition named PeakSimple. The CD has 2 output connectors in the back panel (1 red, 1 black, can receive "banana" plug connectors). So i'd like to get a A/D converter to connect the CD to my laptop via USB: what do you suggest?

Thank you all for your insights,
Yvan Alleau
PeakSimple software is free, but LawsonLabs ADCs (http://lawsonlabs.com/) which PeakSimple supports are costly.

Our own solution:

Mains-powered ADC

I used Alltech 550 and 650 conductivity detectors for quite a few years, good units. I don't have the 550 manual but check this link http://csnewsafrica.com/page/alltech-55 ... or-manual/

The manual was just a few pages, stapled, not real in-depth either.
Thank you both for your replies.
I had found that site in south africa for the manual, but going through the downloading process takes you to a place where you have to register and give some payment information...even though it is free for 14 days or so. I'm not willing to give any such info.

I find interesting that such an older device doesn't have its manual anywhere on the web ;-(

Thank you
Yvan
