Hi everyone,
Instrument: Varian 2000 Saturn.
When I go for filament test, it shows the following error message.
System Verification results
Basic Hardware test: Passed
Vacuum test : Passed
Rf test: Passed
Acquisition test: Failed
The multiplier voltage cannot be set to 2106 v. Likely causes include: The manifold electronics assembly is defective(multiplier supply).Basic Heater test: passed
Ionization test: passed
Diagnostics : failed

There were massive water for air and water check but when isolated from GC side it becomes ok. What could be the reason for above error. Both filament test results shows OK. Please anyone have any hint.
This looks like a hint to me:

"The manifold electronics assembly is defective(multiplier supply)"

Have you eliminated this as a possible cause ?

That is obvious one ,I would like to know apart from replacing the electronics board something else has to do , since by looking to so many posted queries here there were so many other solutions like changing various parameters , i m looking something of that kind before buying the "defect part".

thanks ,
I've once had this kind of error with a defective wiring to the multiplier, i.e. no measurement was possible.

Another, less desirable outcome could be a short or too short creeping distance at the high voltage bushing. You'd need to open the trap and check how the bushings look inside. I've seen some blank gunk of unknown origin at one of my units that prevented higher voltages from being applied.

The high-voltage supply itself is a quite straight-forward cascade which shouldn't break.
Thanks everyone for your replies and valuable points,
At last it was a loose connection of electron multiplier with the pin. I did not suspect it since I was getting peak and electron multiplier was able to tune. When I removed the manifold for checking, saw that multiplier leg has a very fragile contact with the pin, fixed it , turned on MS and after a couple of hours found out error message was gone.
Thanks for replying with your fix - that helps us all using the instrument.
Not everyone does that. :D
